Mistral Vibe CLI is Mistral AI's open-source coding agent for the terminal. You give instructions in plain language and the agent explores, edits and tests a codebase: it edits files, runs shell commands, searches code and delegates work to subagents. Tool execution requires your approval by default. There are agent profiles such as ask and plan, and it can be extended with skills, custom agents, MCP servers and hooks. It installs through a script, uv or pip, and can also run non-interactively.
The code is licensed under Apache 2.0. Vibe uses the models of Mistral AI, which has its registered office in Paris, France, and requires a Mistral API key. Prompts and context therefore go to Mistral, whose Trust Center lists its sub-processors. The CLI itself runs locally. Telemetry and crash reporting can be switched off with a configuration setting, and Mistral-compatible deployments can be configured as an endpoint, which makes self-managed set-ups possible.
