KEDA (Kubernetes Event-driven Autoscaling) is an open-source component that scales containers in Kubernetes based on the number of events waiting to be processed, for example messages in a queue. It works alongside the Horizontal Pod Autoscaler rather than replacing it, and can scale Deployments, Jobs and custom resources that expose a /scale subresource. Many built-in scalers are available for event sources. You add KEDA as a lightweight component to an existing cluster. It is an open alternative to autoscaling features that are tied to a single cloud platform.
KEDA has been a CNCF Graduated project since August 2023 and is licensed under the Apache License 2.0. The CNCF is part of the Linux Foundation (US). The website names Kedify and Schwarz Digits among its partners and Microsoft Azure among its supporters. You run KEDA yourself in your cluster; the project describes no hosted service.
