Kivitendo: sovereignty score and 8 European alternatives

Kivitendo is a web-based, open-source ERP system for the German market. It manages articles, goods, customers, suppliers, stock, quotations, invoices and payment reminders, prepares bookings for financial accounting, and includes basic CRM functions for contacts. The user interface is also available in English; the installation and configuration documentation is in German and the API is mostly documented in English. The project grew out of Lx-Office, a fork of SQL-Ledger, and has been known as kivitendo since 2012.

Kivitendo is installed and operated by the organisation using it, for example on its own server with the available Ansible playbook for Ubuntu. Data therefore stays with the user, and the choice of hosting location is entirely yours. The project page on SourceForge lists the Artistic License, GPLv2 and LGPLv2 as licences. No central provider is involved in operating it; only the online demo is hosted at kivitendo.de.
