Knostic: sovereignty score and 8 European alternatives

Knostic is a security company for AI agents. Its Kirin product runs on the endpoint alongside agents such as Cursor, Claude Code, GitHub Copilot and Windsurf, validates connections and blocks unsafe behaviour in real time. AgentMesh provides threat intelligence on agent skills, MCP servers and VS Code extensions and gives a verdict per item; it is also available through a REST API. The service is delivered as SaaS, with software on the customer's endpoints.

According to its terms of service, Knostic Inc. is incorporated under the laws of Delaware (US); the terms are governed by Israeli law, with the courts of Tel Aviv having jurisdiction. The terms state no headquarters. The privacy policy says data is kept in the United States, the EU, Israel and other locations, describes GDPR rights and uses standard contractual clauses for transfers from the EEA. A separate Data Privacy Agreement is published on the site. A US entity is subject to US jurisdiction, including the CLOUD Act, so ask which region is used for your tenant.

Why digital sovereignty matters with Knostic

Knostic is headquartered in the United States. US vendors fall under the CLOUD Act and FISA 702: US authorities can compel access to data, even when that data sits in a European data centre. That is the core of the jurisdictional exposure in our model.

Knostic hosts data in US, EU, OTHER. Exactly what stays within the EU — and what does not — is defined by the vendor's data processing agreement and sub-processor list, not by a setting you control yourself; check those documents for the precise scope, including backups, logs and support access.

Knostic is closed source and hosted by the vendor. The encryption keys and the runtime sit with the vendor and switching requires data migration. Ask about bring-your-own-key, export options and open standards.

What this means for your organisation depends on your whole stack and context. The free assessment weighs Knostic together with your other vendors and gives a total score, a heatmap and the main risk drivers.
