LibreWolf is a free and open-source fork of Firefox that focuses on privacy, security and user freedom. It is built from the latest Firefox stable source and ships without telemetry or experiments. uBlock Origin is included by default, and additional settings and patches aim to strengthen protection against tracking and fingerprinting. Cookies and history are deleted when the browser closes unless this is switched off, and Firefox Sync is off by default. LibreWolf is available for Windows, macOS and Linux and is installed as a desktop application.
LibreWolf is community-driven and states that it is not affiliated with Mozilla. Development takes place on Codeberg, and the website names no company or legal entity behind the project. The source code is released under the MPL 2.0 licence and the browser uses the Gecko engine, so it depends on Mozilla's upstream Firefox code. It runs locally and is not a hosted service.
