Lightspeed Commerce provides cloud software for retail, restaurant and golf businesses. The retail offering combines point of sale, payments, e-commerce, B2B wholesale, inventory management, marketing and loyalty, and analytics; the restaurant and golf products add functions such as tableside ordering, kitchen display, reservations and tee sheets. The platform is delivered as software as a service together with hardware, an API and integrations, and the company runs localised sites for several European countries, including the Netherlands, Belgium, France and Germany.
Lightspeed is headquartered in Montreal, Canada, and is listed on the Toronto and New York stock exchanges. Its Dutch roots lie in SEOShop, an Amsterdam e-commerce company it acquired in 2015. According to its trust centre, Lightspeed may store personal data outside the EU, relies on Standard Contractual Clauses for such transfers and is certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework; it does not name hosting countries and says its infrastructure runs on outsourced, multi-tenant hosting providers. Because the parent company is non-EU, European organisations should check the data processing agreement for hosting locations and sub-processors.
