Meteor Cloud is the hosting platform from Meteor Software for web applications, with Galaxy as its hosting service. It grew out of the open-source JavaScript framework Meteor.js and hosts Meteor, AdonisJS, Node.js and Python applications, together with managed MongoDB, Redis and PostgreSQL databases. Developers deploy through the Meteor command line or a web interface and choose a region per app. It is a managed cloud service (PaaS).
Meteor Software is fully remote and is owned by Tiny, a Canadian technology holding company that acquired Meteor.js and Galaxy in 2019. Galaxy runs on AWS in three regions: US East (Virginia, the default), EU West (Dublin) and Asia-Pacific (Sydney). An app is deployed to a single region, so a European organisation can choose Dublin to keep application hosting in the EU. Ownership by a non-EU parent and the use of AWS infrastructure should still be part of a jurisdiction assessment.
