midPoint (Evolveum): sovereignty score and 8 European alternatives

midPoint is an open-source identity governance and administration (IGA) platform developed by Evolveum. It manages the lifecycle of identities and access rights: provisioning, governance and compliance, self-service for access requests, password resets and profile management, and management of non-human identities. Simulations let you preview the effects of changes before they are applied. Connectors link systems such as Active Directory, Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, Keycloak, SAP and Salesforce. There are no licence fees; paid support and professional services are available.

midPoint is released under the European Union Public Licence (EUPL-1.2). Evolveum s.r.o. is a Slovak company with offices in Bratislava and Košice. According to Evolveum, it is owned through three Slovak holding companies without external investors, and there is no non-European parent company or owner. According to the website, midPoint can run fully on-premises, in a hybrid setup or as a hosted service, optionally operated by a third party. This lets a European organisation keep control over where identity data resides.
