PLANKA is a kanban board for agile teams, designed primarily for self-hosting. It offers drag-and-drop boards, real-time sync, markdown cards, notifications through more than a hundred providers and support for many languages. The Community edition is free; the Pro edition adds roles and guest access, single sign-on, templates, advanced search and reporting, and can be self-hosted or taken as a managed cloud service. An Enterprise edition targets large organisations.
PLANKA is developed by PLANKA Software GmbH in Kempten, Germany. The source code is public, but it is distributed under a Fair Use License (fair-code) together with a separate Pro/Enterprise licence, and the website describes the Community edition as source available. No non-European parent company is named. Those who self-host keep their own database and backups and decide jurisdiction and storage location themselves. For the managed cloud, the vendor does not name a hosting location, which European organisations can ask about in advance.
