ProM is an extensible framework for process mining, used to extract knowledge about a business process from its event logs. It supports analysis of control flow, performance, data and the organisational perspective. Techniques are provided as plug-ins, including the alpha, heuristic, ILP, genetic and fuzzy miners, together with dotted charts and Petri-net views. ProM is written in Java, runs on multiple platforms and is free of charge. It suits researchers, teachers and analysts who want to try techniques or develop their own plug-ins. You download and install it locally; the current version on the website is ProM 6.15, alongside ProM Lite 1.4.
ProM originates from Eindhoven University of Technology in the Netherlands, where the Process Analytics group maintains the framework. The ProM 6 core is released under the GNU General Public License and most plug-ins under the LGPL; some plug-ins using third-party software may carry a different licence. Because you install and run ProM yourself, event data need not reach any external service. No commercial cloud provider or foreign parent company is involved.
