Quip is a collaboration platform from Salesforce. It combines documents, spreadsheets and chat and can be embedded in Salesforce records, for example for account planning or mutual close plans. It is aimed at teams that already work with Salesforce and is delivered as a SaaS service through the browser and apps.
Quip is part of Salesforce, a US group, and so has no separate foreign parent company. Salesforce states in its privacy statement that data is stored in the United States and by affiliates and third parties; for Quip itself, Salesforce publishes no EU data-residency option. For European organisations this means the US CLOUD Act can apply. In addition, Salesforce has announced that all Quip products are being retired: according to Salesforce Help, subscriptions cannot be renewed after 1 March 2027 and content is not migrated automatically. Organisations that use Quip therefore need to plan an export route and a successor.
