Railway is an infrastructure platform for deploying applications, databases, volumes, functions and background jobs. You connect a GitHub repository or deploy from the command line; Railway builds the code (by default with Nixpacks, or with a Dockerfile), then runs, networks and monitors the services. The platform offers managed databases (Postgres, MySQL, Redis, MongoDB and ClickHouse), preview environments per pull request, rollbacks, and horizontal and vertical scaling. Railway is delivered as SaaS.
Railway Corporation is a US company and therefore subject to US law such as the CLOUD Act. It offers four deployment regions: US West (California), US East (Virginia), EU West (Amsterdam) and Southeast Asia (Singapore). A service can be pinned to a region and moved later. Railway is not open source. Organisations that want European data storage can choose the Amsterdam region, although the provider remains a US company.
