RawTherapee is free, open-source software for processing RAW photos. It works non-destructively with a 32-bit floating-point engine and offers several demosaicing algorithms, colour and detail tools, noise reduction, lens corrections and support for pixel-shift files, exporting to formats such as TIFF, JPEG or PNG. It is aimed at photographers who develop their own RAW files and is delivered as a desktop application for Linux, Windows and macOS.
RawTherapee was originally written by Gábor Horváth of Budapest, Hungary, and has been licensed under the GNU General Public License version 3 since 2010. It is now maintained by the RawTherapee Team, and the source code is publicly available. No vendor needs to receive your files: the program runs locally on your own computer and requires no account or cloud service. For a European organisation this means full control over the installation and the data, and the ability to have the software audited or modified independently.
