Render is a cloud platform that lets software teams host applications without managing servers themselves. It offers web services, static sites, background workers, cron jobs and private services, plus managed datastores such as Render Postgres and Render Key Value. Further features include autoscaling, private networking, persistent disks, zero-downtime deploys and a CLI. Render is delivered as a hosted service; no self-hosted variant is described.
Render is a US company based in San Francisco, California, and is therefore subject to US jurisdiction, a CLOUD Act signal for European organisations. When you create a service or database you choose a region: Oregon, Ohio and Virginia (US), Frankfurt (Germany) or Singapore. Data can therefore be stored in the EU, but the region of an existing service or database cannot be changed. Static sites are served from a global CDN and have no fixed region.
