SambaÉdu is a free educational server solution based on GNU/Linux (Debian). It lets a school manage its mixed fleet of Windows and GNU/Linux computers from one place. It is built on Samba, Apache, PHP, MySQL and iPXE, and recent versions use a Samba Active Directory domain. It was developed by teachers for teachers and their pupils, and it is installed as server software on the infrastructure of the school or local authority.
SambaÉdu is maintained by the SambaÉdu association, a French non-profit under the 1901 law with its seat in Paris. It supports and promotes the software and offers services around it, such as installation, configuration, advice and training; members can also receive personalised assistance. Because you run the server yourself, directories, files and logs stay on infrastructure you control, and there is no hosted offering from the maintainer.
