SAP Ariba is cloud software for procurement and source-to-pay. The offering includes the Ariba Network, through which buyers and suppliers exchange business transactions, source-to-pay solutions and contract management. Organisations use it to manage purchasing processes, supplier relationships and contracts digitally. The service is delivered as a cloud solution and belongs to SAP's procurement and spend-management portfolio, which is also offered under the name SAP Business Network.
Ariba is a US company based in Palo Alto, California. Since the acquisition on 1 October 2012 it has been a subsidiary of Germany's SAP SE, and it has carried the name SAP Ariba since 2016. The parent is therefore in the EU while the business itself is headquartered in the United States, so it is worth checking which legal entity contracts and delivers the service. According to an SAP Ariba notice, the Cloud Integration Gateway runs from data centres in Europe and the Americas; existing customers can choose their data centre, and new customers are linked based on their country. The software is proprietary.
