Sophos AI Defense helps organisations see, control and secure how AI is used, including unsanctioned shadow AI. It discovers AI tools, agents and workflows across browser, endpoint and network layers, assesses risk using identity, permissions, behaviour, data exposure and location, applies policies and guardrails to prompts, uploads and AI interactions, and feeds AI activity into existing detection and response workflows. It is part of Sophos Fusion and an add-on for customers of Sophos EDR, XDR or MDR; according to Sophos, early access started in August 2026 and general availability is planned for October 2026.
Sophos is headquartered in Abingdon, United Kingdom, outside the EU, and was taken private in 2020 by Thoma Bravo, a private equity firm based in Chicago, which is a CLOUD Act signal. Sophos does not state where AI Defense data is hosted, so ask before deploying. The product is not open source.
