Stadia Maps is a location platform with APIs for maps, geocoding and search, routing and navigation. It offers interactive and static maps, map styles (including from Stamen Design), turn-by-turn directions, isochrones and elevation data, plus SDKs for JavaScript, Python, Kotlin and Swift, among others. The services are built on open standards and projects such as OpenStreetMap and MapLibre and are delivered as a cloud API; for self-managed use the company also lists on-premise and embedded solutions.
The company operates as Stadia Maps, Inc. and was founded in 2016. Its team is spread across three continents, and according to its website the CEO is based in Tallinn. Stadia Maps offers EU-only endpoints so that users' data does not leave the European Union, and states that it does not track users and complies with the GDPR. The platform itself is not offered as open source. A European organisation should select the EU endpoints explicitly and review the company's data processing addendum.
