Syncthing is a continuous file synchronisation program that keeps files in step in real time between two or more computers. There is no central server: devices are identified by an ID and work over a local network or the internet. Several folders can be synchronised, with your own devices or with other people, and everything is managed through a web interface. The protocol is documented openly. Syncthing runs on macOS, Windows, Linux, FreeBSD, Solaris, OpenBSD and others.
Syncthing is open source (MPL-2.0), written in Go, and supported by the Syncthing Foundation, a registered Swedish non-profit that pays for the website, discovery servers and build servers. Communication uses TLS with perfect forward secrecy, and only devices you explicitly allow can connect. According to the project, data is stored only on your own computers, so location and jurisdiction follow from where you place those devices. Encrypted folders for untrusted devices are still in beta, and the documentation says to treat them as testing only.
