TeleSign provides APIs for phone number, messaging and identity verification, used by businesses to confirm customers and protect accounts. The offering includes a Verify API (with SMS and silent verification), a Messaging API for SMS, WhatsApp, Viber and RCS, a Voice API and an email suite for notifications. Typical uses are onboarding, log-in, customer engagement and fraud prevention, such as account takeover. Developers use the services through APIs and SDKs. It is delivered as a hosted platform (SaaS); there is no self-hosted or open-source edition.
TeleSign Corporation is based in Marina del Rey, California, in the United States. Since its acquisition in 2017 it has been a subsidiary of Belgium's BICS, which is wholly owned by Proximus. The ultimate parent is therefore in the EU, while the operating company is American. Its privacy notice says data is stored in the US and in other countries, including the EU and the United Kingdom, and it mentions no EU-restricted hosting option. Settle storage locations and US transfers contractually.
