Tink is an open banking platform that gives access to bank data and payment services through a single API. It aggregates PSD2 and non-PSD2 data from European banks and offers products such as Pay by Bank, automatic payments, payouts, account check, transaction data, data enrichment and risk signals. Its customers are banks, fintechs and other businesses that build these functions into their own products using Tink's SDKs. Customers can operate under Tink's PSD2 licence, so they do not need one of their own.
Tink was founded in Stockholm in 2012 and, since its acquisition by Visa, is part of Visa, a US company. That ownership is a CLOUD-Act signal: a US parent can be compelled under US law to hand over data, even where storage is in Europe. The sources do not say where Tink stores its data. Tink states that its systems are SOC 2 Type II compliant for security and availability. The platform is not open source.
