Worldpay is a payment services provider for businesses. It offers payment acceptance online, in stores and across channels, fraud prevention and dispute management, optimisation such as dynamic routing, and products for marketplaces and software platforms, including payouts and currency services. Customers include small and mid-sized businesses, large enterprises and platforms. It is a commercial service consumed through APIs and terminals and is not open source.
Worldpay's own website now describes it as part of Global Payments. Global Payments, headquartered in Atlanta in the United States, completed the acquisition in January 2026; Worldpay was previously acquired from FIS and GTCR. The organisation is therefore subject to US jurisdiction, including the CLOUD Act. Where customer data is stored is not published, and which legal entity serves a European merchant depends on the situation. Clarify this before signing and read the data-processing terms. Payment data is highly sensitive, so dependence on a single US provider deserves deliberate assessment.
