Agent Zero is an open-source agent framework for work that goes beyond chat. It runs in Docker and gives the AI agent a Linux desktop, a browser and file access, so it can use tools, write code, work on documents and spreadsheets, and delegate to sub-agents. Projects isolate files, instructions, memory and secrets, and community plugins can be installed from a hub. It installs through a desktop launcher, a terminal script or Docker, and connects to many model providers, including local models via Ollama. It covers the same ground as hosted cowork agents such as Manus or Claude Cowork.
The project is maintained by Agent Zero, s.r.o., a company based in Brno, Czech Republic, and is released under the MIT licence. Because it runs on your own machine or server, files, memory and agent activity stay in your own environment; what leaves it depends on the model provider you choose. With a local model, no data needs to leave your infrastructure, while using a US provider's API sends prompts to that provider. No owner outside the EU is stated.
