Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform is a commercial platform for infrastructure automation and configuration management. It builds on the open source Ansible project and upstream components such as AWX, adding a web interface, a REST API and enterprise support from Red Hat. Teams use it to automate IT operations with reusable automation content. It can be self-managed on-premises or in public and private clouds, on Red Hat Enterprise Linux or OpenShift, or consumed as a managed service or managed application through the AWS and Azure marketplaces.
Red Hat is headquartered in Raleigh, North Carolina, and has been an IBM subsidiary since 2019, so the ultimate parent is a US company and US jurisdiction, including the CLOUD Act, applies. The upstream Ansible project is released under the GPL v3, while the platform itself is a supported commercial product. In a self-managed deployment, data stays in infrastructure you choose, including EU data centres. With the managed service, Red Hat runs the infrastructure outside your cloud environment, so hosting region and access arrangements need confirming in the contract.
