Eclipse Che is an open-source platform for cloud development environments on Kubernetes. Developers create a workspace from a Git repository or sample and run their IDE in the cluster rather than on a local machine. It is published under the Eclipse Public License and can be deployed on public or private Kubernetes clusters. A trial service hosted by Red Hat is also available.
The project is maintained under the Eclipse Foundation, a non-profit association (AISBL) based in Brussels, Belgium, which places its legal home inside the EU. Che is designed to be self-hosted on an organisation's own Kubernetes clusters, so code and workspace data stay under its control. The location of the Red Hat-hosted trial is not stated on the page reviewed. For European organisations, the main sovereignty question is therefore the cluster they run themselves rather than a vendor cloud.
