Apache Hop is an open-source platform for data integration and orchestration. You design pipelines and workflows visually on a canvas by connecting transforms, without writing code. Projects and environments keep configuration separate from the pipelines. The same pipeline can run locally, on a Hop Server, on Apache Spark, or through Apache Beam on Flink or Google Dataflow. Hop is installed by the user, either as a desktop environment or as a container, and grew out of Kettle (Pentaho Data Integration).
Apache Hop is a project of the Apache Software Foundation, a US non-profit charitable organisation, and is licensed under the Apache License 2.0. No commercial provider hosts the software: you run it yourself, in your own data centre or with a European cloud provider, so your data stays under your own control. Because the source code is open and the licence is permissive, there is no dependence on a single supplier. That suits organisations that want to keep their data processing under their own jurisdiction.
