Apache StreamPipes is an open-source industrial IoT data platform that lets non-technical users connect, analyse and explore streams of machine data through a web interface. It includes adapters for industrial protocols such as OPC UA, S7, Modbus and MQTT, a toolbox of real-time processors, and SDKs for Java, Python and TypeScript. It is deployed with Docker or Kubernetes on the operator's own infrastructure and is licensed under the Apache License 2.0, as an open alternative to proprietary industrial IoT data tools.
The project is developed under the Apache Software Foundation, a US 501(c)(3) non-profit, so it is governed from the United States although the software itself is open. Industrial sites often keep operational data on their own premises, which fits a self-hosted deployment. For a European manufacturer the sovereignty question is therefore less about a vendor's jurisdiction and more about whether plant data, connectors and backups stay under the operator's control.
