ARSnova is an open-source system for live audience interaction in lectures, workshops and events. Participants join in the browser with a code of six characters and answer quizzes, questions in a Q&A and live polls, which the presenter shows on screen. Schools, universities and event organisers use it. Alongside the hosted service at arsnova.eu, the source code is published, so organisations can run their own instance.
The source code is maintained by Particify GmbH in Gießen, Germany, on Particify's GitLab. The web client is published under the MIT licence. The arsnova.eu site describes the service as made in Europe, but it does not name the hosting provider or the operating company, so organisations should confirm these before relying on the service. Because the code is open and the maintainer is German, an organisation can run the software on infrastructure of its own choice.
