bexio is cloud-based business software for Swiss small and medium-sized enterprises, aimed at small businesses, start-ups and the self-employed; the vendor positions it for companies with 1 to 25 employees. It combines digital bookkeeping with receipt processing and an interface for fiduciaries, quotes and invoices including QR invoices, automatic matching of bank transactions, Swissdec-certified payroll, customer management, and product, inventory and project management. It is a subscription service used online.
bexio AG began as easySYS in 2013, was renamed bexio in 2015 and has been a subsidiary of Mobiliar, a Swiss insurer, since 2018, remaining a separate company. According to the vendor, client data is stored in certified data centres in Switzerland, and the company states ISO 27001 certification. The software is proprietary, not open source. Switzerland is outside the EU but a member of EFTA; for a European organisation this means a Swiss vendor with a Swiss owner and data stored in Switzerland rather than within the EU.
