Chameleon System is a modular open-source platform for content management, web applications and e-commerce, built on the Symfony PHP framework. Its foundation, Chameleon Base, provides structured content, flexible data models, user and permission management, multilingual operation and the running of several portals in one installation. Shop and commerce functions can be added for online stores. The platform is designed for project-specific implementations and can be connected to external systems such as ERP and PIM. It is delivered as server software that an organisation or agency installs and operates itself.

Chameleon is a product of ESONO AG, a software company in Freiburg, Germany, which also offers development, hosting and operation services around the platform. The code is published under the MIT licence, so you can inspect it, modify it and run it on infrastructure of your choice, keeping the data in your own environment. The project is listed in openCode, the German software directory for the public sector.
