Citrix DaaS is Citrix's desktop-as-a-service offering for delivering virtual desktops and applications (VDI) to users on any device. Citrix describes security controls for unmanaged endpoints, session recording and HDX optimisations for low-bandwidth connections. Workloads can run in Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud, AWS, on premises or in a hybrid setup, and Citrix DaaS Cloud and Citrix DaaS Local can be combined. The management service runs in Citrix Cloud.
Citrix is part of Cloud Software Group, a privately held US software company formed by merging Citrix and TIBCO and owned by Vista Equity Partners and Evergreen Coast Capital. Citrix Cloud offers US, EU and Asia Pacific South regions; DaaS follows the region chosen at onboarding, which cannot be changed later. Customer content and logs are stored in that region but may be accessed globally to provide the service, and in-product guidance data is stored only in the US. The software is proprietary. Because the owner is American, US jurisdiction, including the CLOUD Act, remains relevant.
