Displayce: sovereignty score and 8 European alternatives

Displayce is a programmatic digital out-of-home (DOOH) advertising platform from the French company Displayce SAS. For brands and media agencies there is the Displayce DSP, with which they plan, buy and optimise local or international DOOH campaigns in real time. For media owners there is the Displayce DMP, which applies first- and second-party data to advertising assets to support direct and programmatic sales. There are also tools for creative content with dynamic adaptation, and an API through which adtech partners can include programmatic DOOH in their media plans.

Displayce SAS has its head office in Bordeaux, France. According to Displayce's press release, JCDecaux took a majority stake in 2022; JCDecaux's own site gives its corporate office as Neuilly-sur-Seine, France, the same country. Where the platform is hosted is not stated on the site. The privacy policy says that some service providers may transfer data outside the EU, notably to the US, under the Data Privacy Framework or with standard contractual clauses. Ask about the hosting region, sub-processors and safeguards before processing campaign and audience data.

Why digital sovereignty matters with Displayce

Displayce is headquartered in France and therefore falls under European law: the GDPR, NIS2 and the Data Act. No foreign legislation can compel access to your data.

Data is hosted exclusively in the EU, so Displayce scores best on data residency.

Displayce is closed source and hosted by the vendor. The encryption keys and the runtime sit with the vendor and switching requires data migration. Ask about bring-your-own-key, export options and open standards.

What this means for your organisation depends on your whole stack and context. The free assessment weighs Displayce together with your other vendors and gives a total score, a heatmap and the main risk drivers.
