Domo: sovereignty score and 8 European alternatives

Domo is a cloud-native business intelligence and data platform delivered as software as a service. It lets organisations connect and integrate data from many sources, build dashboards and reports, and give business users near real-time access to data with limited IT involvement. Its offering also includes Domo Everywhere for embedded analytics, App Studio for low-code analytics apps and Agent Catalyst, a toolkit for building AI agents on top of the platform.

Domo is headquartered in American Fork, Utah, in the United States. In July 2026 Progress Software announced it would acquire substantially all of Domo's assets for 400 million dollars, and Progress has since reported the acquisition as completed, so the platform is now owned by another US company. Both companies are subject to US law, including the CLOUD Act. As a cloud-only service, it keeps customer data in Domo's hosting environments; a European organisation should ask which environment will hold its data, whether an EU option is available, and how the ownership change affects the contract.

Why digital sovereignty matters with Domo

Domo is headquartered in the United States. US vendors fall under the CLOUD Act and FISA 702: US authorities can compel access to data, even when that data sits in a European data centre. That is the core of the jurisdictional exposure in our model.

Domo hosts data in US, EU. Exactly what stays within the EU — and what does not — is defined by the vendor's data processing agreement and sub-processor list, not by a setting you control yourself; check those documents for the precise scope, including backups, logs and support access.

Domo is closed source and hosted by the vendor. The encryption keys and the runtime sit with the vendor and switching requires data migration. Ask about bring-your-own-key, export options and open standards.

What this means for your organisation depends on your whole stack and context. The free assessment weighs Domo together with your other vendors and gives a total score, a heatmap and the main risk drivers.
