e-conomic is a Danish online accounting program for businesses that do their bookkeeping themselves or with an accountant. According to its website, the program gives an overview of a company's finances, lets accountants access the books directly and digitally, and integrates with inventory, webshop and payroll systems. The service is offered online as cloud software.
e-conomic is operated by Visma e-conomic A/S, a Danish company that is part of the Norwegian software group Visma; Visma bought e-conomic in 2015 from the private-equity firm Hg Capital. Visma itself is headquartered in Oslo and, according to Wikipedia, is majority-owned by HgCapital. The pages reviewed do not say where e-conomic data is hosted, although the subprocessor list of its sister product Dinero names Visma e-conomic A/S as providing infrastructure and networking in Denmark. e-conomic is proprietary software. A European organisation that needs certainty about hosting should ask Visma for the current list of subprocessors and hosting locations.
