FairEmail is a free email app for Android that connects to a user's own email accounts. It is distributed as open-source software under the GPL-3.0 licence and is described by its developer as privacy-oriented. According to its privacy statement, account data, messages and attachments stay on the device, with a default retention of 30 days, and data goes only to the user's own mail provider unless an optional service is used.

The app is developed by FairCode B.V. in Dordrecht, Netherlands. The source code is published on GitHub. Because FairEmail has no vendor-hosted mailbox service, the provider of the user's mailbox decides where messages are stored. The developer receives data only through opt-in error reports, and the privacy statement says that FairEmail is GDPR compliant.
