Fontself is a font-making tool that turns hand-drawn letterforms into usable fonts. It is offered as an extension for Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop and as a standalone app for iPad. Designers draw their letters inside the software they already use and export the result as OpenType font files, which can be used on Mac, PC and iPad. It targets designers who want to make their own typefaces without working in a full font-engineering editor.
Fontself SAS is incorporated under French law, with its registered office in Paris. Its privacy policy states that personal data is handled in France, but it also allows transfers outside France, including to the United States. It names third-party services for analytics, notifications and customer support, among them Firebase, Mixpanel and Google Analytics. The policy does not refer to the GDPR. The Illustrator and Photoshop extension runs inside the software on the user's own computer, and the iPad app is a standalone application. European organisations that work with client material should check the transfers and the account-linked data before standardising on it.
