OnBase is an AI-enabled operational content management product from Hyland. It captures and governs business documents, automates content-centric workflows and feeds data to everyday business systems. Its functions include automated multichannel capture with classification and verification, configurable workflows and forms, case management, collaboration with version control, dashboards with audit trails, and automated retention and destruction of documents and records. OnBase is offered in the Hyland Cloud.
Hyland is a US company and has been a portfolio company of the investment firm Thoma Bravo since 2007. For European organisations, US ownership is a CLOUD Act signal. Hyland has added a location in Frankfurt (AWS), which it describes as a secondary location to which EMEA customers can replicate data, and for its newer Content Innovation Cloud it refers to data residency policies within the EU. The software is proprietary and not open source.
