HyperDX: sovereignty score and 8 European alternatives

HyperDX is an observability platform that brings session replays, logs, traces, metrics and errors together in one interface, so teams can follow a problem from the browser or mobile app through backend services to its cause. It is built on ClickHouse and uses OpenTelemetry for instrumentation. Features include full-text search, automatic clustering of log patterns, dashboards, live tail and alerts via Slack, email or PagerDuty. HyperDX is available as a hosted service (HyperDX Cloud) and as a self-hosted deployment, for example as a single Docker container or on top of an existing ClickHouse installation.

HyperDX is made by DeploySentinel, Inc., a US-based vendor, and ClickHouse announced its acquisition of HyperDX in March 2025. The software is open source under the MIT licence and is now part of ClickStack, ClickHouse's observability offering. A European organisation can therefore run it on its own infrastructure. For the hosted service, the website does not state hosting regions, so check the data location and the contractual terms before sending production data.

Why digital sovereignty matters with HyperDX

HyperDX is headquartered in the United States. US vendors fall under the CLOUD Act and FISA 702: US authorities can compel access to data, even when that data sits in a European data centre. That is the core of the jurisdictional exposure in our model.

HyperDX hosts data in EU, OTHER. Exactly what stays within the EU — and what does not — is defined by the vendor's data processing agreement and sub-processor list, not by a setting you control yourself; check those documents for the precise scope, including backups, logs and support access.

HyperDX is open source. You can audit the source code, self-host the software and keep the encryption keys under your own control. Switching is easier because data and software are not tied to a single party.

What this means for your organisation depends on your whole stack and context. The free assessment weighs HyperDX together with your other vendors and gives a total score, a heatmap and the main risk drivers.
