Jortt is an online bookkeeping service for Dutch freelancers and small businesses, including sole traders, private limited companies, holding companies, foundations and associations. It connects to your bank account, books many transactions automatically with its Boekhoudbot, and also covers invoices and quotes, time and project tracking, VAT returns filed with the Dutch tax authority, payroll and annual accounts. Jortt is delivered as a web application, with apps for iPhone and Android.
Jortt B.V. is based in Almere, the Netherlands, and holds a PSD2 licence from De Nederlandsche Bank. According to its processing agreement, the administration is hosted on Amazon Web Services (AWS) in Frankfurt, with a second location in the Netherlands for redundancy and backups. Jortt says it aims to keep processing in Europe but does not guarantee it, and that AWS or other subprocessors may process or access personal data outside Europe. Because the infrastructure provider is a US company, a European organisation should weigh this in its assessment. Jortt is not open source and is offered only as a hosted service.
