Klapp is a communication platform for schools, clubs and similar organisations. Teachers, school management, pupils and parents send messages, documents and appointments in a few clicks, with traceability of who received what. Klapp also includes an absence management module with an early-detection feature. It runs in the browser and as an app for iOS, Android and Huawei devices. It can be used on its own or connected to an existing school management system. The service is delivered as a cloud service by Klapp GmbH.
Klapp GmbH is based in Fislisbach, Switzerland. Switzerland is not an EU member state but is an EFTA country with an adequacy decision from the European Commission. According to the website, the service is hosted exclusively with Infomaniak, a Swiss provider, and all data is stored on servers in Switzerland. The privacy page says Klapp's partners comply with Swiss and European data protection rules. The vendor states nothing about a parent company. For European schools and clubs, this means messages and user data stay under Swiss law rather than with a US cloud provider.
