Lexware Office is a cloud-based accounting application for self-employed people, freelancers, founders and small businesses in Germany, such as sole traders, GbRs, UGs and GmbHs. Receipts can be photographed or scanned and are booked automatically. The software also creates invoices, including e-invoices in XRechnung and ZUGFeRD formats, links a business bank account, prepares the VAT advance return that is sent to the tax office through ELSTER, supports the income-surplus calculation or balance sheet, and shares data with a tax advisor through a DATEV interface. A payroll module is optional. The service runs in the browser and in the Lexware app.
Lexware is a brand of the Haufe Group. According to the provider, data is stored in German, ISO 27001-certified data centres in the Frankfurt area, and development, hosting and data protection are handled entirely in Germany. The software is not open source and is offered only as a cloud service.
