Ma carte is a set of online tools for creating and publishing maps. Users build their own maps, place addresses on the map (geocoding), import statistics for thematic maps and create narrative story maps; there is also an atlas of published maps. The service runs in the browser and is offered by IGN, while the components, such as the editor, viewer, storymap app and geocoder, are separate repositories on GitHub.
IGN, France's national institute for geographic and forest information, maintains the service and its code. The applications are released under GPL-3.0 and the libraries mostly under MIT. IGN and French Republic logos and imagery are excluded from that licence. The pages reviewed do not state in which country IGN's service is hosted. Ma carte is listed in the SILL, the French government's list of recommended free software.
