Media Pilot: sovereignty score and 8 European alternatives

Media Pilot is software for multi-media advertising sales houses (régies) to book and invoice advertising campaigns on television, radio, press and digital. The package manages campaigns and spots, sales quotes, stock and tariffs, calculates GRP costs and invoices automatically. Access rights can be set per department or company, and a standard EDI interface plus exports to Excel and XML connect it to media-planning, broadcast and accounting tools. As its technical environment the vendor lists a Windows server and Windows clients with an Oracle database and remote access.

Media Pilot is made by CSE (Creative Systems Engineering), an SAS in Paris, France. Since 2018 the company has been part of Adwanted Group, whose legal notice gives an SAS seat in Lille and which also operates in Spain, the United Kingdom and the United States. The site does not say where the application and its data run, or whether Media Pilot is also offered as a cloud service. Ask CSE about the delivery model, the hosting location and whether group entities outside Europe have access to your data.

Why digital sovereignty matters with Media Pilot

Media Pilot is headquartered in France and therefore falls under European law: the GDPR, NIS2 and the Data Act. No foreign legislation can compel access to your data.

Media Pilot runs on infrastructure you choose and control yourself. You decide where the data lives, including fully within the EU if you want — this is not a fixed hosting choice made by the vendor.

Media Pilot is closed source, but you run the software yourself on your own infrastructure. The encryption keys and the runtime therefore stay under your own control, though you cannot audit or modify the source code. Ask about export options and open standards to limit software-level lock-in.

What this means for your organisation depends on your whole stack and context. The free assessment weighs Media Pilot together with your other vendors and gives a total score, a heatmap and the main risk drivers.
