Medulla is an open-source RMM (remote monitoring and management) solution for managing the workstations of an IT estate. Administrators use it for hardware and software inventory, scheduled application deployment, patch management, vulnerability (CVE) tracking, secure remote access, backup and restore, and a module for mobile devices. A lightweight agent on each workstation talks to a central console over the XMPP protocol, and an open API allows integration with tools such as GLPI or LDAP. Medulla can be run on your own servers, in a private cloud or as SaaS.
The project is maintained by Natsu, an independent French company headquartered in Paris, which says it took Medulla over to reduce dependence on non-European management software. The source code is on GitHub under the GPL (versions 2 and 3). If you host Medulla yourself, the management data stays on your own infrastructure. Natsu also offers a hosted version on a subscription basis, which according to its website is hosted in Europe.
