Omni Analytics: sovereignty score and 8 European alternatives

Omni Analytics is a cloud platform for business intelligence and AI analytics. It combines a semantic model, in which business logic is defined, with dashboards, spreadsheet-style workbooks, point-and-click charts and SQL. Users can ask questions in natural language, have changes in a metric explained, and schedule recurring AI summaries. Omni connects to data warehouses such as Snowflake, BigQuery, Databricks and Redshift and can be embedded in other products through SSO, APIs and an MCP server. It is delivered as SaaS.

Omni Analytics Inc. is based in San Francisco and falls under US jurisdiction, including the CLOUD Act. According to its security page, Omni runs on AWS (including US and EU regions) and Azure (including US and UK regions); for AI features, EU users are served by models deployed in the EU. The default AI model host is AWS Bedrock and can be switched to other providers. Omni states that it meets GDPR standards and uses standard contractual clauses and the Data Privacy Framework for transfers; a data processing agreement is to be requested via its Trust Center.

Why digital sovereignty matters with Omni Analytics

Omni Analytics is headquartered in the United States. US vendors fall under the CLOUD Act and FISA 702: US authorities can compel access to data, even when that data sits in a European data centre. That is the core of the jurisdictional exposure in our model.

Omni Analytics hosts data in US, EU, OTHER. Exactly what stays within the EU — and what does not — is defined by the vendor's data processing agreement and sub-processor list, not by a setting you control yourself; check those documents for the precise scope, including backups, logs and support access.

Omni Analytics is closed source and hosted by the vendor. The encryption keys and the runtime sit with the vendor and switching requires data migration. Ask about bring-your-own-key, export options and open standards.

What this means for your organisation depends on your whole stack and context. The free assessment weighs Omni Analytics together with your other vendors and gives a total score, a heatmap and the main risk drivers.
