Parula is an app that combines email, chat, video meetings, calendar, contacts and files in one programme. It runs locally on Windows, macOS, Linux, Android and iOS and works with your own mail server; an optional server package exists. For email it supports JMAP and IMAP with PGP and S/MIME, plus connectors for Exchange. A free open-source edition and a paid edition for business use are offered.
Parula, codenamed Mustang in the repository, is developed by Beonex GmbH near Wiesbaden, Germany. Mustang GmbH, also in Germany, offers the same app as Mustang. According to the repository, the core is licensed under the EUPL 1.2; some parts, such as Exchange support, web mail and video meetings, are deliberately proprietary, so it is open core. According to the developer, data stays on the device and does not pass through the maker's cloud. The maker does process licence data and error reports including the user's email address; no data processing agreement was found. Parts of the work were funded through NLnet.
