Podlibre is an open-source desktop app for podcasters to edit their episodes. It offers noise reduction, mouth-noise editing, simple multi-track editing, music insertion, automatic transcription with manual correction, and chapter and metadata editing. Episodes can be published locally or to platforms such as Castopod, Funkwhale and Faircamp. Every feature is a plugin, so components can be swapped. The first release is an alpha version for Linux.
Podlibre is developed by Ad Aures SAS, a company seated in Paris, France, which also makes the podcast platform Castopod. The source code is on Codeberg under the GPL-3.0 licence, and development was co-funded through NLnet's NGI0 Commons Fund with support from the European Commission. It is a program you run on your own computer. Whether data leaves the device depends on the plugins you choose, such as an external transcription service.
