The Video Sequencer is the built-in video editor of Blender, the free and open-source 3D creation suite. It lets you cut and splice footage, combine video, images, audio, scenes and masks on multiple channels, and apply speed control, transitions, keyframes, filters and colour grading. It offers live preview, waveform, vectorscope and histogram displays, and audio mixing. For compositing and motion tracking, Blender also includes a Compositor and a Movie Clip Editor. Blender is a downloadable desktop application for Windows, macOS and Linux.
Blender is coordinated by the Blender Foundation, a non-profit based in Amsterdam, and is released under the GNU General Public License. Funding comes mainly from Development Fund memberships and donations. The source code is freely available, you can run the program locally, and there is no foreign parent company. For a European organisation, this means control over its own files and no dependence on a cloud subscription for editing.
