Publii is a desktop application for building static websites. Users write and manage content on their own computer and generate the site as static files, without a database or server-side PHP. The finished files can be published to providers such as GitHub Pages, GitLab Pages, Netlify, Amazon S3 and Google Cloud, or sent by FTP or SFTP. The application runs on Windows, macOS and Linux.
Publii is licensed under GPL-3.0 and its source code is published on GitHub. Its copyright holder is TidyCustoms. TidyCustoms is presented as a Polish web design company, but the vendor does not state its legal seat. Because the software runs on the user's own computer and hosting is optional, the main data question is which publishing provider is chosen. For European organisations, that choice determines where the generated files are hosted. The vendor states that its own website is hosted in the EU.
