Redmine is a web-based project management application built on Ruby on Rails. It supports multiple projects with role-based access control, issue tracking, Gantt charts and calendars, time tracking, per-project wikis and forums, and custom fields. Redmine integrates with source control systems such as Git, Subversion and Mercurial, can create issues from email, and supports LDAP authentication. The organisation installs and runs Redmine itself on its own server.
Redmine is free, open-source software under the GNU General Public License v2 and is built and maintained by community volunteers rather than a single commercial vendor. No company with a foreign parent therefore operates your data: where it resides is your own choice. If Redmine runs on your own servers or with a European hosting provider, the data stays under European jurisdiction. In return, your organisation is responsible for installation, updates, backups and security patches.
